The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the federal stimulus program, enables Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency to do its part to help the nation's economy through:

Adult training programs in green construction. Seven men and women have graduated from our first class with skills that put them ahead of the competition for jobs in the construction field.

Weatherization partnership programs with the private sector. Multi-family building owners have hired private contractors to install materials funded by Weatherization, thus saving dozens of jobs.

Weatherization for individual homes and apartments. This ARRA initiative has allowed us to expand out Weatherization Assistance Program crews and to help hundreds of income-eligible families slash their home energy costs.

A new Head Start classroom in Ilion that not only created four new jobs, but offered Head Start opportunities to 18 children who had been on our waiting list.

Adult training in early childhood education. More than a dozen men and women enrolled in our first class to learn skills in this growing field.
