State Preparedness Center donates food
The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services participates every year in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Food Drive. Nonperishable items are collected through all of the NYS offices beginning on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. For the last 3 years, the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany has chosen Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency to be the recipient of their collection. Fritz Scherz, Senior Administrative Analyst, organizes the local drive and is pictured here with this year's collection being accepted by Maureen Dunn Murphy, Program Development Director, on behalf of MVCAA. MVCAA often has families who find themselves in an emergency situation who need help with food, personal hygiene items, etc. MVCAA's Angels collect and distribute items to families throughout Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
